National Service Scheme (NSS) was introduced in 1969 with the primary objective of developing the personality and character of the student youth through voluntary community service.
The Motto of NSS is "NOT ME, BUT YOU".
• NSS helps the students to develop a sense of selfless service and appreciation of the other person's point of view and also to show consideration for fellow human beings.
• The philosophy of NSS underlines that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of society as a whole.
• NSS volunteers shall strive for the well-being of the society.
The main purpose of the NSS is to create a sense of leadership, and community awareness in the youth as they initiate welfare programs, and community service. Volunteers may have to be involved in activities such as: cleaning, afforestation, awareness rallies etc.
It aims to inculcate the feeling of social and civic responsibility amongst the students.
